Cook, Shoot, Eat!

Food styling with Ruth Gangbar: Cook, Shoot, Eat
Sat 21 June 2 – 4 PM

Join us for this special workshop with the very gifted Ruth Gangbar  as your guide to the world of food styling.

Gain insights into how you can create vivid and irresistible images of your product. Our practice subject will be High Tea and we’ll provide the food and props. Our focus will be on the food styling – photography technique is for another occasion – so feel free to bring your phone camera, and props too – your favourite china cup, linen, cake stand.

This is a hands-on workshop, with spaces limited to twelve people, so don’t delay. You will find this a most valuable two-hour investment in your business.

County Business Cultivator – Cynthia Peters – May 14

cynthiapetersCynthia Peters, chef and owner of From the Farm Cooking School, joins us May 14 to explore the many benefits of partnering with other businesses to create a special event or offer a special service.

Creating events or services partnerships can be relatively simple to plan and implement, and so is particularly suited to small businesses and sole proprietorships. From her wealth of experience, Cynthia will share many examples of events she has participated in or initiated in partnership with another business. We are certain you will find some great ideas to jumpstart your own business, and stimulate new approaches to reach new markets, enhance your brand, and grow sales.

Join us for potluck at 6:30. Introductions begin at 7:15 and Cynthia’s presentation will run until 9, including time for small breakout groups to brainstorm partnering ideas. At 9 we’ll have time for 3 people to make a 5 minute pitch on their business or business-to-be and receive 5 minutes of feedback. Sign up on the Facebook page or email Jane Macdonald or Peta Shelton directly.

Please join us as Noreen Kalman of Hillier House, Carlyn Moulton of Oeno Gallery and Susan Wallis, of Away Bed & Breakfast, owners of three very different and successful businesses discuss the shared features of operating in the high end market.

Over the 25 years she has been in the design trade, one she describes as “high touch”, Noreen Kalman has met with considerable success, building a dedicated following in the high-end design industry across Southern Ontario and beyond. Noreen operates from her shop, Hillier House, located next door to historic Hillier Hall.

Carlyn Moulton’s Oeno Gallery, co-located at Huff Estates, is a destination for visitors to the County. Carlyn will share some insights developed selling in the high end art world and informed by a previous professional life of accomplishment in academia, journalism, and healthcare.

Susan Wallis has created Away Bed & Breakfast, a place of exceptional grace and warmth, overlooking East Lake in Cherry Valley, and one perfectly suited to the adult, high end clientèle toward whom her business is targeted.
