Zen meditation retreat – Sat Nov 9
Zen silent daylong meditation retreat at Hillier Hall. All are welcome to this no-charge event, sponsored by the Hillier Recreation Committee. Led by Jane Macdonald an ordained buddhist priest living in Wellington.
You are invited to attend all or part of the day. Please try to time your arrival for the end of kinhin and your departure for the end of zazen.
Schedule:
9:00-9:40 – zazen (sitting meditation)
9:40-9:50 – kinhin (walking meditation)
9:50-10:30 – zazen (sitting meditation)
10:30-10:40 – kinhin (walking meditation)
10:40-11:20 – zazen (sitting meditation)
11:30-12:00 – kinhin (walking meditation)
12:00-1:00 – BREAK (bring your own lunch)
1:00-1:30 – zazen (sitting meditation)
1:30-1:40 – kinhin (walking meditation)
1:40-2:20 – zazen (sitting meditation)
2:20-2:30 – kinhin (walking meditation)
2:30-3:10 – zazen (sitting meditation)
3:10-3:30 – brief discussion
3:30 – retreat ends
What to bring: Cushions for sitting or for your feet (chairs will be provided). A mat or folded blanket to sit on (if you won’t be using a chair). Your lunch.
What to wear: Warm layers, loose and comfortable. Try to avoid clothes with loud patterns or writing.

Zen Buddhist Meditation
Jane Macdonald leads Zen Buddhist meditation sessions every Monday from 7 – 8:30pm. All welcome!
10 minutes walking meditation followed by 40 minutes sitting meditation.
There will also be a day-long session on Saturday, November 9 from 9am – 3:30pm.
